Configuring Mozilla Thunderbird for your POP3 email

These screen shots were taken under Windows Vista 64 with Thunderbird 2.0.

  1. Open Thunderbird
  2. From the "Tools" menu, choose "Accounts Settings..."

  3. In the Account Settings window, select the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" option, and in the right-hand side click the "Add..." button.

  4. Use "Web Space Media SMTP" for the Description
    Server Name is "smtp.webspacemedia.co.uk"
    User Name is your full email address, for example "someone@yourdomainname.co.uk"
    Ensure "Use secure connection" is set to "No"

    Customers using an AOL internet account must also change the Port from 25 to 587
    The default port number 25 is filtered by AOL, and may cause your outgoing emails to be blocked!
  5. Click ok to return to the Account Settings window.
  6. Click the "Add Account..." button to begin the Account Wizard.
  7. Ensure "Email account" is selected before clicking on next.

  8. "Your Name" is usually your own name or that of your company.
  9. "Email Address" is as allocated by us, for example name@yourdomain.co.uk

  11. Ensure POP is selected as the incoming server type.
  12. Your Incoming Server is "pop.webspacemedia.co.uk".
  13. The global Inbox is your preference.

  15. Your Incoming User Name is usually your full email address, for example someone@yourdomain.co.uk

  16. Click next
  17. Account Name is the displayed name that Thunderbird will use to show this account in the list.
    We suggest you use the default offered, your email address.

  18. Click next to display the confirmation window.

  19. Click finish
  20. You will be prompted for your account password (as supplied by us) the first time you try to send and receive emails.

You are now ready to send and receive email from your account.
